Hope I am asking this in the right place.
On first use, with a full 100% charge, it just shut itself down after about 45 minutes or an hour. When I tried to power up, I got ‘0190 critical low battery error’
Is this a serious problem for which I’ll need to return my machine, or is there something I’ve perhaps done wrong?

Thank you for sharing your post here. Please try these troubleshooting steps for your battery to isolate the issue.
Perform a static discharge/power cycle
— Make sure there is still remaining battery power, able to power up the machine.
— Disconnect all cables and/or peripheral devices connected to the machine (ex. power cable, hdmi cable, external mouse/keyboard, flashdrives, etc).
— Ensure that device is powered/switched off.
— Press and hold down the power button for as long as 60 seconds to drain flea power or excess voltage.
* The machine should remain in off state. Try after 60 seconds, turn the machine on again.
Uninstall-Reinstall Battery drivers
— Access Device Manager. You can go by pressing Windows Key + X, then select Device Manager.
— Click the Batteries section in the Device Manager window.
— Go ahead and right-click the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and choose Uninstall from the menu.
— Click on Uninstall to confirm.
— Restart the device and the Windows itself will install the generic driver type for the battery to be installed.
Generate a Battery Report:
— The following are steps in order to generate/initiate a Battery Report in Windows.
— Right-click on the Windows Icon in the bottom-left corner of desktop and select «Search».
— Launch the command prompt, by typing «cmd» into the search bar, right-click the program showing up and then choose «Run as Administrator».
— Put these in the blinking curse: «powercfg /batteryreport /output «C:\battery_report.html» into the command prompt window. Exclude the 1st and 3rd quotations.
— Using Explorer navigate to C:\ aka the root directory. You should see a file labeled battery_report.html.
Once you have, done these steps, check if the battery will have a slight improvement on the performance.

What happens is that at random times during my computer use, a «Battery at critical low level» dialog box will pop up for a few seconds then disappear. It doesn’t seem correlated with battery percentage either as I’ve had it hppen came out of the box about a year ago.
Hi, I’ve had this problem ever since the computer a various battery levels. It is not like the «Your battery is low (10%)» dialog. The pop up doesn’t show a battery percentage, it only says that it is at a critical level. Any ideas how I can get the problem to go away? Thanks!

Lenovo ThinkPad T510i работал от аккумулятора, далее был забыт и полностью разрядился, вследствии чего выключился.
При попытке включения от сети (как с аккумулятором так и без) возникает ошибка Error 0190: critical low-battery error.
Напряжение батареи поддержки памяти BIOS 3.2 V.

«0190: Critical low-battery error» on Lenovo Thinkpad T540p
When powering on, a refurbished Lenovo Thinkpad T540p (which worked for a few months without any problems) shows «0190: Critical low-battery error».
Although the Thinkpad splash screen says to press Enter to see the BIOS settings, that doesn’t work. The system immediately shuts down.
The manual says for this error:
Solution: The computer turns off, because the battery is low. Connect the ac power adapter to the computer and charge the battery, or replace the battery with a fully charged one.
Unfortunately the laptop won’t boot when plugged into AC either. And I’ve also tried removing the battery and just using AC, and it won’t boot at all (and doesn’t even show the error).
I’ve tried unplugging the coin cell CMOS battery and plugging it back in (since I read on forums that resetting settings in this way might help).
The only effect was that now I also see a new error upon boot:
I’ve also tried replacing the main battery and also the charger. Neither helped.
A friend uses her Thinkpad T540p plugged into the wall without a battery.
The fact that mine can’t do this (boot up while relying on AC power from the wall, leaving the main battery removed) implies to me that the problem is neither the main battery nor the charger nor the coin cell battery but instead is the wiring between the AC charger port and the rest of the system.
That is, even when a known «good» charger is plugged into the power port, the power isn’t flowing through to the system or to charging a dead battery.
What should the next step of my diagnosis (and fix) be?
It’s confusing to me that the computer worked fine for months, and now that the warranty is expired, it won’t charge or boot up, even though I can’t think of any event that would have caused this problem.

I noticed today that my Thinkpad W520 doesn’t charge the battery when the AC adapter is plugged in. I know I have a bad battery that uses its powers in 30-40 minutes once the AC adapter is disconnected. However, I started seeing addition symptoms:
1. If I shutdown the laptop and remove the battery, then try to boot with the AC adapter connected, I get the following message:
«0190: Critical low-battery error» and the laptop shutdowns.
2. If I connect the battery and AC adapter, I can use the laptop, however, the battery remains at 6% and doesn’t get charged no matter how long I keep the adapter connected.
My bios is up to date. Anyone knows what might be the issue or how to isolate it? could it be the motherboard?

Does the system forget the time when it’s powered off without the main battery attached?

Yes, I get the error when the boot the laptop on the AC power suppler (no battery).
